Charles and Kit Graves, Directors of Lake District Hotels, created the Passes and Valleys Tour. They have enjoyed classic car rallying and touring for years and are members of the Bentley Drivers Club, Sunbeam Tiger Club and the Jaguar XK Club. They have taken part in many UK and European rallies and tours, so they know how hard it is to find venues that cater for car clubs - they also know how to tailor packages to the needs of Car Club guests.

The Passes and Valleys Tour fills a gap in the market as Charles Graves explained “competitions are not allowed in the Lake District so touring is popular. Some hotels host car clubs but there’s no one else in the Lake District who offers the complete package. We wanted to create something that gave organisers everything they would need and knowing how tours work was a great advantage. We have included things that make a difference like early breakfast, excellent places to stop for breaks, flexible dining times and evening entertainment. We also arrange concourse events and providing a variety of routes for organisers to select themselves.

We know we can offer a first class touring experience where Classic car owners can enjoy some of the most beautiful and challenging scenery in the country. We know which roads driving enthusiasts would enjoy, as well as the ones to avoid and have looked at a range of routes that are reasonably demanding without being too hard on cars.”

With six family owned and run hotels in the Lake District Hotels portfolio, Classic Car Club Organisers have a choice of 3* and 4* hotels, set in rural locations and pretty market towns. Each hotel has its own up to date tulip routes covering from 45 – 120 miles. They know their hotels provide great service and excellent food and have also road tested the routes in their Jaguar XK150.

Planned with the precision needed for Classic Car Regularity Competitions, Charles and Kit Graves believe the best Classic Car Tours start and finish with great hospitality encompassing challenging routes and spectacular scenery along the way.

The ‘Passes and Valleys planned itineraries all include afternoon tea and cream scones on arrival followed by the Club Concourse d’elegance, a welcome reception and dinner on the first evening. Breakfast next day is served from 7.30am before guests depart on their Passes and Valleys Tour which includes organised stops for coffee, lunch and tea before returning for an evening reception, dinner and prize giving. Breakfast is served before farewells and departure. Prices start from £291 per car for a 2 night stay.
