Bank of America Foundation Grant Provides Health Care for Foster Children
Coconut Creek, FL- The Bank of America Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to SOS Children's Villages – Florida for the organization's Children's Health Services.

The program provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, and mental health services for the foster children who call SOS home.
The children who reside in the Village arrive with histories of abuse and neglect. As a result, they need more than just a roof over their heads and a kind person to care about them. They need help to overcome traumas, heal emotionally, and learn new social skills and behavior. Only then can they look forward and realize their potential.

http://www.sosflorida.com The grant will help the Village continue to provide on-site mental health and behavior therapy, and a nurse to oversee the medical needs of the children, including medical and dental appointments, first aid, dispensing prescription and over-the-counter medications, and staff training.
“It is because of support from caring community members like the Bank of America Foundation that our Village can be more than just a home for our children,” says SOS Chief Executive Officer Marjory Bruszer. “Together we are able to heal our children and give them the hope of a brighter future.”
SOS Children's Villages - Florida is home to up to seventy foster children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment. The Village setting makes it possible for brothers and sisters, often separated in foster care, to be reunited. The nurturing and support that SOS provides prepares them for a future as productive members of society. The Florida Village is part of a worldwide network of over 450 villages caring for disadvantaged children.
