FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) October 20, 2008 --
Young people can learn that Action Changes Things in their lives and Halo Publishing International Author Lisa Umina and her caring and lovable book character Milo are on a mission to show them how.
Roughly one in three students in grades 7-12 report having been bullied at school, according to a statistics gathered by the Center for Addiction and Mental Health. And it’s not just on the playground, the hallway or the locker room in schools today. Bullies are using the latest technology – Internet postings, e-mails and text messages – to intimidate their victims.
School should be a place where young people feel safe while making friends and learning the skills they need for a positive future. Lisa and Milo want to visit your school to teach students how to ACT AGAINST BULLYING.
During a school assembly, Lisa and Milo will talk about what a bully is – someone who verbally, physically or psychologically abuses someone. And there will be discussion about a bully’s intimidation tactics, including hitting, pushing, name-calling and threatening.
Students will learn they have the power to make positive changes. Lisa and Milo will offer tips on what young people can do to stop bullies from hurting others. Through role playing activities and discussion, students will learn that their actions truly will make a difference when they do something and stand up to a bully.
They’ll be asked to make a pledge to – Act Brave. Talk to someone. Talk about it. Get a buddy. And, each student will receive an ACT Mission Club Card that reinforces the actions they can take.
The children can participate in poster contest, sponsored by Halo Publishing International during each school visit, and possibly win a $50 gift certificate. They will be asked to create a poster showing how to handle a situation involving a bully. HPI will print 50 of the winning posters and submit an announcement about its creator to the local newspaper, as well as post it on the company’s website.
Lisa Umina, owner of Halo Publishing International, not only publishes books but also enjoys a successful career as an author, motivational speaker, missionary and literary consultant.
