New York, NY October 27, 2008 Ted Greenberg brings his one-man comedy show, THE COMPLETE PERFORMER to the Soho Playhouse beginning November 8. Back by popular demand, since the show won the Producers Award at this year’s New York International Fringe Festival. The Complete Performer, which the New York Times declared, “Is a definite off-center Letterman skit quality…. goes by both fast and enjoyably,” will play every Saturday night until the end of the year. Speaking of Letterman skits, Ted was on the writing team with Chris Elliott for the “Custom Made Show” which won the Primetime Emmy for “Outstanding Writing in a Comedy or Music Program” 25 years ago. That sketch aired November 15th to be exact, which is also the second date of The Complete Performer run.
While Ted Greenberg is excited about the show and all of the accolades from the 2008 New York Fringe Festival, one issue has kept him subdued. “Every time it’s my turn to shine, my dad has to come out of hiding to take my spotlight,” says Ted. His father is respected economic guru, Ace Greenberg, who was the former Chairman of the Board of Bear Stearns and is currently a director of Bear Stearns and non-executive director of Viacom. With the financial crisis, it is understandable that many people want to hear from him. The senior Greenberg appeared on Charlie Rose last week to discuss Wall Street, but didn’t mention his son’s upcoming shows.
Ted promises to work out his daddy issues on stage. The Complete Performer is full of rapid-fire arrays of magic, mind reading, improv, full frontal nudity and the always popular audience awards. Plus a half-time show complete with the crowd-rousing mascot. A lucky (or unlucky) audience member will be driven home in a cab by Ted (he still has his hack license).
The Complete Performer plays Saturday nights at 10:30pm, from November 8th thru December 27th, at the Huron Club downstairs at the Soho Playhouse, 15 Vandam Street, between 6th Avenue and Varick. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased by calling 212/691-1555 or by visiting www.SohoPlayhouse.com.
Ted Greenberg graduated from Harvard, wrote for David Letterman, won an Emmy, drove a cab, traded stocks on Wall Street, received a Masters in Public Health and researched suicide prevention. Next up – magic tricks and full-frontal nudity.
