Gurgaon International Dog Show 2008

•All Breed 5th and 6th FCI International Dog Show
•7th and 8th All Breed All India Championship Dog Show
•National Boxer Specialty Dog Show
•National Labrador Retriever Specialty Dog Show
•National Pug Specialty Dog Show

All the shows will be as per the rules of The Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), the World Canine Organization, based in Belgium. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale has 84 member countries, with one member per country. Each member country regulates its own breed clubs and stud books, and trains its own judges; the Fédération Cynologique Internationale acts as an international coordinating body, making sure that pedigrees and judges are internationally recognized. In addition, the Fédération Cynologique Internationale sponsors and regulates the World Dog Show and international dog shows.

The two day premiere dog show of India, which will be held from 20th - 21st December will take place at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Gurgaon. The event is expected to attract about 1000 entries from India and over 50 overseas entries consisting of 75 different categories of dogs registering to compete for the top prize. The competition between dogs of the same breed will be held first on the basis of their age (minor puppy, major puppy, dog,veteran, etc) . The dogs then compete within their breed across different age groups. One dog from each breed is entitled to earn a CACIB – A prestigious international award. A dog which has three CACIB in dog shows anywhere in the world organized by the FCI automatically gets a title of an 'International Champion'. Other prestigious awards will be 'Best in the group' and ‘Best of the Show'. The two day event has been organized in such a way that each dog, who travels to compete in the show gets an equal opportunity to show what it can do - much to the delight of its audience. The show will be judged by 7 international judges, who are experts in this field, thus making the event one of the most prestigious shows ever.

With an over billion population of India (and still counting), the country boasts of many dog lovers. This dog show will see roughly over 12,000 of country's dog lovers attending the international dog show making it the highest audience number ever in the history of Dog Shows in India. The 75 different breeds of dogs on the show will allow dog seekers to decide which breed of dog they should own. These seekers have a privilege of getting the first hand details of these breeds from their handlers. Consider this show also as an exhibition providing a common platform where those seeking dogs get to meet those who own dogs. What's more? Audience could look out for other attractions including about 50 trade stalls displaying everything that a pet lover may want for his pet including food, clothing, toys and much more.
