Most Severe Headaches Are Not Migraine But Are Treated As Such Unsuccessfully

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 13, 2008 -- Most headache experts agree that the majority of head pain is caused by muscle contraction, not by migraine. Yet virtually all severe headaches, without easily identifiable causes, are mistakenly diagnosed as migraine, and are many times unsuccessfully treated. A confused diagnosis yields poor treatment results. Therefore many sufferers are condemned to a life of pain, lost hope, depression, drug side effects and the psychological effects of chronic pain.

Dr. A. Richard Goldman, director of the Head and Neck Pain Center, in Chicago, in his forty years of practice, has found that most severe head and neck pain is caused by spasms in the muscles of the head and neck, but are mistakenly labeled migraine. These muscle spasms are usually triggered by a discrepancy between the way the teeth want to fit together and the way that the jaw joint dictates. This problem is called TMJ Syndrome. In most cases this type of pain can be cured without drugs or surgery. "My life was in shambles. We thought that I was dying and that there were no doctors that could help me--because I had been to seventeen doctors..." "I felt alive again...there is nothing better than loosing a headache you've had for four years that never went away." (Actual patient quotes)

Most severe headaches are not migraine but are treated as such. Such misdiagnosed patients are thus condemned to a life of pain, lost hope, depression and/or secondary effects of the drugs, that they are given to control the pain. Many times these drugs have little positive effect. The majority of headaches are caused by a muscle spasm problem called TMJ Syndrome which, most often, can be successfully treated without drugs or surgery.

The Head and Neck Pain Center is a facility limited to the diagnosis and treatment of severe head and neck pain due to TMJ Syndrome. Dr. A. Richard Goldman, its director, is the author of the book TMJ Syndrome The Overlooked Diagnosis which is now available on the center's web site, for free download. Dr. Goldman has been practicing in the field of TMJ Syndrome for 40 years and typically sees patients who have had multiple headache treatment failures, including other TMJ treatments.
