Gurgaon shopping mall shut for flouting pollution norms
A new shopping mall in millenium city Gurgaon has been shutdown by the local pollution board for flouting pollution laws
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 15, 2008 --
The Central Plaza Mall near Sector 53 in Gurgaon was sealed on Friday for flouting pollution norms. “, reports Express India on 15th November 2008.
Apparently they were flouting pollution laws and not responding to Haryana Pollution Control Board (HPCB)’s notices related to treatment of water being discharged by the mall.
Talking about pollution, I wonder how much of waste is poured into the atmosphere by the diesel generators of shopping malls in Gurgaon, who are forced to use them in the absence of power connections from the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam. Please read The fumes of ill-planned development . I also wonder how is it that we continue to allow people to build more and more shopping malls, knowing fully well that our state electricity board is incapable of meeting their power needs? Is it not obvious that then these malls will deploy diesel generators which will pollute the city, further? What is more important ? The red cells in your lungs or the taste of BR ice cream on your palate in an air conditioned environment. Further….can you not have both?
