Singer/Songwriter Spencer Day to Perform in Napa Valley and San Francisco

November 17, 2008

Singer/songwriter Spencer Day will be performing at the Napa Valley Opera House in Napa and in San Francisco at the Rrazz Room

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 17, 2008 -- Uniquely American singer/songwriter Spencer Day (www.spencerday.com) will be performing on Saturday, December 6 at the Napa Valley Opera House in Napa; on Monday, December 8 he is at Theater 39 on Pier 39 on San Francisco Bay; and from Tuesday, December 9, through Sunday, December 14, he will be playing at the Rrazz Room at hotel Nikko in San Francisco.

“Destined to become a big star,” is the sentiment of notable music reviewers throughout the United States. He is a perennial favorite at jazz venues in San Francisco and New York, and has been gaining a strong following throughout the country with his recent U.S. tour.

Day’s style is uniquely American contemporary music, a blend of jazz, blues, soul and folk with a touch of humor and pathos. His music expressed through his rich baritone voice is setting the tone for a new American Songbook relevant to today’s audiences.

Earlier this year, Spencer opened for Rufus Wainwright at the Napa Valley Opera House. Recently, Day was honored to be invited by Jazz legend Marian McPartland to join Nnenna Freelon and Mulgrew Miller in celebrating McPartland’s 90th birthday at the Tanglewood Jazz Festival. This was followed by performing at the 51st Annual Monterey Jazz Festival. After performing at the Singapore Sun Festival, he appeared at Java Jazz in Djakarta, Indonesia.

On his return to the U.S., Day has maintained a full schedule, touring the east and the middle of the country in unison with the upcoming release of his third CD, “Vagabond.”

Within the month of November, he has been performing in Cape May, Baltimore, New York, Boston, Hudson, New Hartford, Memphis, Bowling Green, Cedar Rapids and St. Louis.

“Vagabond” will feature Yair Evnine, his longtime guitarist/cellist; Grammy-nominated master drummer Scott Amendola (Charlie Hunter); and renowned bassist Jon Evans (Tori Amos).

Day’s last CD “Movie of Your Life” was released in 2005. The title song “Movie of Your Life” won San Francisco Academy of Art University’s 2005 competition for best original song. The accompanying video also received artistic acclaim. A prolific and insightful songwriter, he has composed more than 60 songs.
