Digital Awards for North East England - Awards to celebrate the region’s digital innovation

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 19, 2008 -- Entries are now open for this year’s North East Digital Awards, which celebrate the achievements and highlight the talent of firms in the region using digital technology.

Funded by regional development agency One North East, and managed by The North East Regional Portal, the Awards are open for entries until 27 February 2009. Entries are submitted exclusively online at www.northeastdigitalawards.co.uk and winners will be formally announced at an awards ceremony in March 2009.

One North East’s eBusiness Specialist, Stephen Carey, said: “North East England is a hotbed of digital talent and these awards aim to highlight and celebrate this – promoting the achievements of businesses in all aspects of digital technology, innovation and practice.”

The awards are divided into three groups: Digital Users, Digital Suppliers and Digital Innovators. Each group has its own range of categories including ‘Best eCommerce Website’, ‘Best News and Entertainment Website’ and ‘Best Social Media Optimisation campaign’.

Pascal Fintoni, Head of eBusiness at the Regional Portal, said: “Last year’s Digital Awards was an unprecedented success. Over 240 entries were received and we expect participation this year to double, and we’re really looking forward to seeing the nominations this year.”
