Interior Design & New Construction - Part II
Part II of a series dedicated to exploring the myths behind interior design's role in new construction.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) November 19, 2008 --
A friend of mine and I were catching up one evening a few months ago, when he informed me that he wanted to start building a new home. Though he knew I worked for Studio 2.0 Interior Design Consultants, he was surprised to learn that we could assist him with designing his new home from concept to completion. He had mistakenly assumed that we at Studio 2.0 could only assist with renovations or material selection. Our conversation surprised me, yet got me thinking about how many other people had the exact same misconceptions. Through our conversation I was given the opportunity to clarify the main misconceptions my friend had.
[Misconception #3] Then I should contact you when the house is ready for paint and flooring?
[Truth] Studio 2.0 is able to offer you far more assistance. We can assist you from your planning stages to construction, then construction to finishes from finishes to furniture placement. First off and of prime concern is fully understanding your wishes for your new home, who will be using the space and the users’ interaction with the space. This will be determined in an initial consultation.
Then the Interior Design Consultant will use AutoCAD software to design your home’s floor plans to scale. When building a home, even if you are not planning on developing the basement initially, it is a good idea to have a floor plan designed for the basement to ensure when you decide to develop your basement you are not limiting the potential of your space by having to work around teleposts or pluming stacks.
After the full set of floor plans are approved, we can assist you in determining the best placement and type of lighting, switches and outlets to meet your lifestyle, in the form of an electrical plan. Our Interior Design Consultants have the expertise to figuratively walk through your floor plan to determine the most practical and user-friendly approach to your electrical plan. This way you can be assured that your electrical plan was well thought through instead of something done spur of the moment when your project is nearing completion. Having a professional take the time to think through each step will allow for you to be more satisfied with the end result.
A ceiling design could also be determined along side the electrical design, which assists in determining the best ceiling volume changes needed to compliment the interiors and lighting design. We can then assist in adding design features to your home such as an entertainment unit or fireplace mantel. Your floor plans will then be passed to an Architectural Technologist or Architect who will prepare your blueprints. These will then be used to construct your home.
