LOCAL GIANT SUPERMARKET MAKES DONATION TO MT. CARMEL CHRISTIAN FAITH CENTER FOR CHRISTMAS BAZAAR

Carmel Christian Faith Center under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Coletta Jones, is hosting a Christmas Bazaar for members of the surrounding community. This event will take place on site at Mt. Carmel on December 13, 2008 from 11 am – 2 pm.

This holiday extravaganza is the first of many to come and will involve congregation and community members. Local supermarkets and other organizations have been invited to make donations and to attend. Pastor Jones has also recruited the help of local professional organizer, D. Allison Lee, along with a 15 year member of Mt. Carmel, Marcella Jones, both of whom will be overseeing the program. Ms. Jones believes the Christmas Bazaar will have a positive impact on the local residents. “Every endeavor that Mt. Carmel has is motivated by sincere love for the community and for the people,” she said. In addition, some very prominent elected officials have been invited to show their support for the Pastor’s mission and vision.

The event organizers also pleased to have the assistance of the Giant Supermarket at 8301 Professional Place in Landover, MD. When she heard that Giant offered to subsidize a portion of the cost of food supplies purchased, Ms Jones said “We truly appreciate Giant with their assistance. It really takes a giant to reach out and help others.” Deb Lee of D. Allison Lee Professional Organizers also noted, “It is wonderful that Giant is interested in helping the community.”

The Christmas Bazaar will be an exciting one with lots of activities planned for children like face painting and holiday craft projects. This will allow their parents the opportunity to shop for items like toys, housewares, clothing, and baked goods. Each item will be reasonably priced so that everyone can find something to fit their budget. Refreshments, like hot chocolate, will also be on hand to not only warm the body but also the spirit. It promises to be a one-stop holiday event, one that everyone is sure to enjoy.

The Mt. Carmel Christian Faith Center is located at 1300 Good Hope Road S.E., Washington, DC 20020 and has over 50 congregation members. They are dedicated to enlarging their outreach ministry in the surrounding neighborhoods. Established in 1955, Mt. Carmel is developing ministries for people to receive their GED, counseling for unwed mothers, job training for unemployable individuals, food, clothing (consignment shops), substance abuse rehabilitation, housing programs, etc. It is a place where people can come to find a new direction for their lives, and it’s pastors encourages members to invest in each other through entrepreneurship, mentorship, and education.
