San Diego-based Coastal Boot Camp Fitness Workouts Launched

(Free-Press-Release.com) December 14, 2008 -- Coastal Sports and Wellness Medical Center launches San Diego-based fitness boot camp workouts classes designed by sports medicine physicians to increase fitness, overall health while decreasing risk of injury. “Coastal Boot Camps” are scheduled to begin in January 2009.

“We’re excited to offer a high-intensity but sensible and safe fitness boot camp workout classes in San Diego” said sports medicine physician and medical director John M. Martinez, M.D. “Unfortunately, we see many patients that have either acute or overuse injuries because they don’t learn proper form for many of these exercises. We’ve designed a exercise program that highlights prevention of injuries while remaining focused on fitness and weight loss. Our goal as medical professionals is to emphasis wellness and promote health with our patients and others.”

The boot camps start with a focus on body weight based functional exercises and on proper exercise techniques with an additional emphasis on health, wellness and nutrition and lifestyle changes. The medical center also offers metabolic testing to determine daily nutritional needs and provides physician oversight of the program.

Branded as Coastal Boot Camps , the indoor fitness workouts will begin in January 2009 with 45 minute weekly classes on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays with an express lunchtime workout starting in February at the Coastal Sports and Wellness Medical Center facility. Separate locker rooms with lockers and showers are available.

About John M. Martinez, M.D.

Dr. Martinez is a San Diego-based primary care sports medicine doctor, residency-trained in family medicine and fellowship-trained in Primary Care Sports Medicine. He is the medical director of Coastal Sports and Wellness Medical Center in San Diego. He also volunteers as the medical director for the Carlsbad Marathon, a member of the Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon World Championship volunteer medical staff, a team physician for USA Triathlon and the local medical coordinator for the AVP Beach Volleyball Tour.
