With twenty-five years of hit songs and dozens of talented artists still being discovered, the sounds of American hip-hop rap music have traveled uptown and downtown, crisscrossing the black, white and Hispanic audiences until landing in its final destination - mainstream USA. There's no doubt about it – Rap and Hip-Hop Music have established a permanent place in American pop culture.
The annual music-marketing program divides into three separate tours with rotating headliners including Usher, Queen Latifah, Neo, Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes and Ice-T.
"Providing the artists, the venues and the tours are only a portion of what our company has planned," explains Concert Group Marketing Director, Marc Livingston. "We've included in-store appearances, sweepstakes opportunities, and community involvement. Sponsors can use the popularity of stars like Usher, Queen Latifah, Busta Rhymes and Ice-T to deliver positive messages like ‘stay in school, pursue dreams, set goals and get involved.’”
With the country in recession, Chachkes & Livingston made a bold move, canceling individual artist tours for 2009, 2010 and 2011, opting instead to product three mega events per year, each with a combination of Hip-Hop, Rap and new R&B.
“We made the decision to keep touring because Americans are going to need affordable events brought in to their hometowns. People are already making decisions about entertainment extras. With eight to ten acts per show, there’s more value to the music lovers,” explains Livingston. “Established artists will tour with newer acts.”
Touring artists support Chachkes & Livingston’s decision. “This is a very proactive group of entertainers that understand the country’s current economic situation. Working together to reduce show production costs is one way they can do their part and still stay connected to their fans. We also all agreed to cap the ticket prices. Right now, everyone is chewing on the numbers,” Chachkes grinned.
To get a little closer to each community, Livingston turned to Samplesecure.com,an online in-store advertising network. "Rae Romanoff has the top local-market labor service providers in her Samplesecure network. We loved what her affiliates did for the NSYNC band when they toured in 2000 and 2001. The addition of in-store autograph parties, product sampling, sound check parties and photo opportunities is value-added to the over 2.5 million concertgoers."
Walking the extra mile for their corporate sponsors is important to Livingston and to the Concert Group's Managing Partner, Gil Chachkes, who explains - "We're running an artist integrated, interactive marketing program and plan to do for music what's already been done with sports. Hip-Hop is one of the few genres of music big enough to offer a yearlong music program. Being able to offer sponsors exit sampling, celebrity endorseme
