AMOUR ELLIOTT-SETTER'S STUDENT FILM WINS INTERNATIONAL FILM COMPETITION

Graduate Kejenne Beard was put under immense pressure when she was required to come up with a story line for her graduate film as part of her short film course at the Auteur School of Independent Filmmaking in South Africa in 2007. Forty eight hours later she had filmed her short and began putting the finishing touches on her edit with help from her teacher and Mentor, Amour Elliott-Setter. LOST WORLD was a hit and won the award for Best Script at the school's prestigious year-end screening. The film was entered into the student film competition section at Reelshow International and won the November/December 2008 prize for the top overall student film. LOST WORLD will automatically be entered into the International Student Film Festival and Kejenne Beard was awarded a small cash prize of US$150.

The film is set in the year 2030 and examines the effects of a nucleur explosion in South Africa, resulting in the death of millions of its citizens and leaving the country in ruins. Amour Elliott-Setter and her son Sebastian Setter were the lead actors in the film and fellow students Gabrielle Elliott and Theo Madolo assisted Kejenne with camera, makeup, acting, etc.

The Auteur School of Independent Filmmaking in South Africa offers short introduction courses in filmmaking and film-acting and their courses are offered on a part-time basis in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Courses are practical and hands-on and students get to make a short film as part of their training. Principal and chief lecturer Amour Elliott-Setter has been involved in the film and television industry for many years and shares her skills and expertise in a very practical way.
