Speedway Children’s Charities Awards $10,000 Grant to Spread the Word Nevada: Kid to Kids

(Free-Press-Release.com) December 30, 2008 -- Henderson, Nevada – Spread the Word Nevada, Inc.: Kids to Kids, is the recipient of a $10,000 grant awarded by Speedway Charities. The grant will allow Kids to Kids, a flagship program of Spread the Word Nevada, children’s literacy project, to continue to provide books and bags to the at-risk children and their families in southern Nevada.

Janae Melvin, Director, of Speedway Las Vegas Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities stated, “Speedway Children's Charities is proud to support the mission of Spread the Word Nevada, Kids to Kids for the sixth consecutive year. We recognize the importance of books in a young person's life and believe that every child deserves the opportunity to hear a bedtime story or spend time with his or her family exploring the wonderful, imaginative world that a good book provides.” Children’s Charities has been a supporter of Kids to Kids since 2002. Kids to Kids, a flagship program of Spread the Word Nevada, Inc., a nonprofit, 501(c) (3) corporation, serves at-risk children and helps them create home library collections of books to read and share with family members. While developing a love of reading, these libraries promote future academic achievement and higher self-esteem, which impacts lifelong success. Since 2001, the program has distributed over one million books and has served more than 109,000 children in the Las Vegas Valley and Clark County School District.
