FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 2, 2009 --
Retired pastor Jerry L. Lewis has a holiday mission goal of giving away 1,000,000 eBook copies of his recently published and profiled book, "What God Can't Do: Keys to Prayer Power."
Lewis converted the printed book into a downloadable book at the request of a lady in Malaysia who couldn't afford the online price of the book. "With no printing costs nor postage, I was able to email her a copy of the entire book for free," he writes. She wrote back, "Thanks so much. My prayers no longer bounce off the ceiling."
He then began thinking about how many other people he could benefit across the world if they knew how to get a copy of a book that they might not afford, or where Christian books are not available or allowed. "Of course, I still hope people will want to purchase printed copies to help offset my publication costs," Lewis writes, "but that is another story. This is something I can do right now to help out. My main idea was to get copies into foreign countries where other means of ministry might be too difficult, but there are a lot of hurting people right here at home, too."
“The theme of the book is that the quality of life we experience is not a result of who or what we know,” Pastor Jerry writes, “but on the quality of the questions we ask, both of ourselves and of God.” For example, asking for “more patience” sounds like a good idea until we realize that the way God usually teaches patience is giving us more “practice time” in the form of additional trials and tribulations. That’s exactly like painting a bulls-eye our head. We can accomplish the same thing by asking, “Lord, show me something I can do right here and now to follow you so closely that I don’t get distracted by unimportant events or negative people.” God can’t pass up a request like that; it goes straight to the top of His desk.
Lewis' website does not record email addresses from those who download the book, so recipients can remain anonymous. No-cost downloads will allowed at least until 1/12/09. For more information, visit: http://.pastorjerrylive.org.
Pastor Lewis is a retired licensed United Methodist minister and Ohio public school teacher who has been married to “the same girl for 40 years.” Almost his entire public school career was spent working with at-risk high school students. He also worked as a full-time missionary with the Brooklyn and Cincinnati Teen Challenge programs as a vocational coach under the Assembly of God’s Division of Home Missions.
