Dennis Haggerty: Inspired by Taos

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 8, 2009 -- Barnstone Gallery presents Dennis Haggerty: Inspired by Taos, an exhibit highlighting the western “skyscapes” of painter, Dennis Haggerty. The show runs from February 6 – March 28, 2009. A reception will be held Friday, February 6 from 6 – 9pm. All are welcome.

Resident artist, Dennis Haggerty of West Chester, PA continually studies the American Southwest and paints highly expressive renderings of the Western skies. He was first drawn to Taos, New Mexico in 1972 and visits regularly. His sunsets capture the spell bounding quality of light over mountain ranges. These semi abstract paintings of “skyscapes” often feature blazing dusk or dusk ruddy sky colors. He tries to capture the sense of the space he is in rather than a specific mountain or valley. His background in philosophy has also influenced his work. With each stroke, intensity develops into bold emotion. He currently works in his studio in the borough of West Chester where he adds character to the community. Dennis has been in many shows in New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming and of course Chester County.

This exhibition will consist of larger oil paintings on paper roughly 30”x23”. We will also be featuring a series of monotype prints, 16”x20”, and smaller watercolors varying in size; the larger studies at roughly 8”x10”.



Barnstone Gallery is located in the upper levels of a historic Chester County barn, and offers work from more than 60 contemporary American artists. In addition to painting and sculpture, Barnstone sells a full complement of original creative arts including glass, ceramics, paper, wood and jewelry.

Barnstone Gallery events are free and open to the public.
