Las Vegas, January 12, 2009 — Everyone believes in something and Duelz.com is encouraging individuals everywhere to duel it out — at least when it comes to debating.

The open exchange of ideas in a free, friendly forum is the concept behind the website, founded in 2008 by Kurt Melvin and Mary Murtha. The site bills itself as “Your place for friendly debate.”

“This is a dueling forum where anyone can challenge anyone to a duel to debate hard core topics,” Murtha said. “The more controversial topics the better and we encourage everyone that loves to argue and debate to challenge other people or parties to duel.”

Everyone has an opinion on something, whether it involves politics, religion, sex or the latest celebrity gossip. And it’s just as certain that someone else will have a totally opposite opinion on those and other subjects, which she believes can make for lively debate.

“We plan to challenge high profile people, parties, and companies to public duels in this forum, and encourage other people to do the same,” Murtha said.

And while most forums contain posts from users who only want to vent their frustrations about the latest news or post one-time comments, the website was created to allow for the regular debate about everything from whether someone can believe in both the Bible and evolution or whether capital punishment is right, to what make relationships work or results in their failures.

The founders said everyone is invited to challenge another person or party at Duelz.com, from family or friends, to work associates and members of organizations with opposing viewpoints such as political parties or advocacy groups.

Kurt and Mary said they are also reaching to the organizers of other forums by encouraging them to send their argumentative members to Duelz.com to engage in challenges at their site.

Using the site requires registration, which is free. After that, users can post new threads, reply

to those created by others, receive email notifications when there are responses to specified posts and threads.

Additional features include:
• The ability to send private messages to other members
• Creating albums of pictures, along with allowing users to comment on pictures posted by other users
• The capability to add events to the forum calendar
• Setting up a “contact list” to quickly which users are online.

Murtha added that the site also has a search feature that lets users identify discussion threads related to subjects that they are passionate about.
