1st Annual Multi-Cultural, "We Are One" Festival in Historic Eatonville, Florida

January 20, 2009

A family friendly, community celebration with entertainment, music, food, local and state elected officials, future and former candidates of all party affiliations.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 20, 2009 -- Eatonville, Florida, January 20, 2009. The Metropolitan Orange Democratic Black Caucus (MODBC) is preparing for its first annual community festival. The “We Are One” Festival will be a multi-cultural, community celebration to thank voters, politicians and everyone in the community for their participation in the 2008 electoral process. People of all heritages and party affiliations came together as one community to elect Senator Obama as President of the United States, as well as many state and local officials.

The MODBC’s "We Are One" Festival will be a family friendly event with entertainment, music, food, local and state elected officials, future and former candidates of all party affiliations which will take place in historic Eatonville, Florida on Saturday, April 11, 2009 from 10:00am-6:00pm.

The "We Are One" festival, originally scheduled for January 3, 2009 for the thousands of Central Floridians unable to attend the inauguration, was postponed due to overwhelming response from the community. It is now time to come together as our community, state and nation embarks on a new journey and new challenges that impact everyone; we as citizens of the United States need to take the time to embrace Unity in our Diversity. Note: The Presidential Inaugural Celebration's recent event at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday, January 18 shared the named "We Are One" (http://www.pic2009.org.)

The MODBC is reaching out to the multi-cultural population at large, because this event will require support from all segments of the Central Florida community (Democrats, Republicans, Independents, etc.) corporations, businesses, including the media, churches/congregations, and residents of all ethnic backgrounds (African-Americans, Hispanics, Haitian, Caucasian, Asian, etc.) Anticipated attendance of at least 10,000 people for this debut event.

The "We Are One" Festival will be the first of many family oriented events, workshops, as well as other activities to educate, empower and assist local residents to better understand the issues and amendments for upcoming local, state and federal elections. The secondary mission of MODBC is to keep the Eatonville office open as an ongoing resource in this metropolitan community which is essential due to the importance of the I-4 Corridor.

The MODBC is in need of additional corporate sponsors, guest speakers, entertainment, volunteers and vendors to participate in this and future events. Please contact the MODBC by phone, fax or email.
