Hilary Clinton, The Woman Who Never Gives UP

January 21, 2009

Once more Hilary Clinton rises from the political ashes of Washington like the eternal phoenix.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 21, 2009 -- Hilary Rodham Clinton has played many different roles in the political scene of Washington, from Senator to First Lady and presidential candidate. She has become the feminist icon of the saying, ‘Never Say Die’.

Having been tossed around as only politics can, she has weathered her way through the scandal of the Clinton – Lewinsky affair and the subsequent attempted presidential impeachment, a failed health reform, plus everything that an 8 year roller coaster ride in the White House as First Lady, could throw her way.

Hilary Rodham Clinton (who steadfastly refuses to take her husband’s name), keeps keeping on. A lot of people expected her to quietly roll over and disappear from public view, after failing at a bid for becoming the first woman president of the United States.

Not only did Hilary refuse to accept defeat from the bitter loss of a failed presidential campaign, but like the ethereal phoenix, has risen once more from the political ashes. Hilary, who has already made history in her own right, is now making history once again, in being confirmed as the Secretary of State to Barak Obama (the first Black African- American President).

Prior to the presidential inauguration, Hilary flew in from New York to speak at an Emily List luncheon. On her way to the Hilton Hilary was caught in a traffic snarl. Emily List is a 24-year old group of feminists, who have dedicated themselves to increasing the presence and power of women in politics. They have been around almost as long as Hilary has been on the political scene.

However, not even Washington traffic could overcome the dauntless Hilary, who simply climbed out of the car and strode the rest of the way. This was suggestively reminiscent of the walk the Clintons had made on their way to their inauguration 16 years earlier, when they walked part of the route to the White House. A tradition the Obamas have continued.

The Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, was present at the luncheon, is said to be the woman who will "Not only stomp out injustice, but stomp it out in 4-inch heels."

The key women in the audience kept everyone’s attention with impromptu anecdotes, as they waited for the tardy Hilary. Ellen Malcolm eventually introduced Hilary to the euphoric crowd of women, when she called Clinton "An exceptional figure in American life and a powerful role model for women for our country and for the world."

However, as Malcolm was quick to point out, “For every one woman in Congress, there are still more than five men”.

The pantsuit, Hillary’s favourite mode of dress, has almost become a ‘uniform’ for the ladies in the majestic halls of Washington power.
