Artist Barbara Kolo has Solo Show at Topanga Canyon Gallery

Topanga, CA (January 29, 2009) In her second solo exhibition at the Topanga Canyon Gallery, Barbara Kolo will present a series of acrylic paintings and drawings in a style she has termed Neo-Pointillism. Many of the drawings to be included in the exhibit are studies for her larger acrylic paintings. Kolo’s colorful canvases are filled with dots and drips of paint that create organic shapes and patterns representative of the natural world. Instead of brushes Kolo uses squeeze bottles filled with paint to make her Impressionist images.

Barbara Kolo is a Santa Monica based artist who has been a member of the Topanga Canyon Gallery since 2005. Her work has been exhibited on both coasts of the United States and in France and in Italy. Currently, her work is included in an exhibit called “In the Abstract” at LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) Terminal 1, sponsored by the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Office.

Kolo received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York, and went on to build a career as an award-winning Art Director in creative advertising for film and television. Her passion for painting and drawing never diminished and has been her focus for the last 12 years.
