Summit has now officially announced two sequels based on Stephenie Meyer's second and third books, "New Moon", and also "Eclipse". Rumors of a third director for "Eclipse" have been circulating, however the the Production Company, Summit Entertainment, has not announced any plans to hire a third director in the series.

The production company has acquired the rights (optioned property) from Stephenie Meyer to film and distribute Breaking Dawn, the fourth novel in her series. However Breaking Dawn will not begin production until sometime in early 2010.

The first film in the series has grossed over $339,704,009 (USD) worldwide.
