Bedford NY Mom Making Music Her Way

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 30, 2009 -- She’s been compared to Shania Twain and Bonnie Raitt. But singer-songwriter Joanna Mosca, who grew up in West Hartford, Conn., is making music her own way and she has the independent record label to prove it.
After putting her career on hold while her children were young, Mosca is writing and producing songs on indie record label, Dolce Diva. Using her own label meant she didn’t have to spend precious time waiting for a major label to record her music.

Her first single, Not Enough, promptly jumped into the Top 10 of the Adult Contemporary music charts where she spent five months in the Top 40 last year. Her second single, a very contemporary update of the Spinners classic I'll Be Around rose all the way to number 7 on the Adult Contemporary charts.
Reviewers from Backstage and The Village Voice have described her performances as “captivating and entertaining” and her voice as having “amazing range and emotion.” Mosca’s music is a mixture of rock, country and adult contemporary and appeals to listeners of all ages as she easily moves in and out of various genres with her rich voice and incredible range.
Her performance is enhanced by acting skills she acquired at the legendary HB Studios in New York City, where her teachers included Uta Hagen and Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Although Mosca always has loved music and acting, she started her career in nursing and then earned a masters degree in public health from Yale University. After taking a break from the health care industry to stay at home with her children, Mosca decided it was time to pursue her passion for singing and the theater.
