Entertainment Law Expert Laura Frank Sedrish Joins LaPolt Law For Film & Television Division

(Los Angeles) Much like founder Dina LaPolt, Sedrish enters the firm as someone who has seen the industry from many sides – as a talent manager, producer, and lawyer.

LaPolt has found a kindred spirit in Sedrish, in addition to recognizing someone equipped with the versatility and capability to meet various creative and analytical demands at LaPolt Law. “We had an immediate rapport,” says Sedrish. “I’m very excited about what I can achieve working with this reputable firm.”

Admitted into the California Bar Association in 1995, Sedrish originally entered the entertainment field as a talent manager, working for Leslie R. Thompson & Associates Talent Management. After a few years in showbiz, during which time she even tried her hand at screenwriting, Sedrish decided to parlay her creativity back into law. Following the transition, she began working for Paramount Studios in motion picture business affairs, and later worked for Mutual Film Company, headed at the time by esteemed producer and Grey’s Anatomy creator Mark Gordon and producer Gary Levinsohn, evaluating and coordinating motion picture distribution deals and analyzing investments.

As an attorney, she has been a part of the Law Offices of Nancy Furse Alder, P.C, the successor firm to “Rudin & Alder,” run by Alder and her mentor and partner, legendary entertainment lawyer Milton A. “Mickey” Rudin. With Alder’s firm, Sedrish represented major celebrities and prominent entertainment companies, and was a key player in several deals that made front-page news across the globe. She also acted as outside counsel to movie studio MGM and the sole general U.S. counsel to KirchMedia, the renowned European media conglomerate which controlled various media outlets worldwide, major satellite channels, and at the time, owned the rights to the World Cup. She has also freelanced for prominent entertainment lawyer Mark Litwak and comedian and director David Steinberg.

Sedrish is also the Founding Board Chair and General Counsel for Greenway Arts Alliance, Inc., a non-profit organization based out of the Greenway Court Theatre on the Fairfax High School campus. In this capacity, she has been instrumental in the formation of the “Melrose Trading Post” on the campus, voted the best flea market in LA by both the New Times and Los Angeles Magazine, and is involved in the company’s arts education outreach program. She has served as the producer of several productions at the theatre, including the critically acclaimed A Clockwork Orange and They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?, both of which won awards from the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, LA Weekly and Backstage West..
