Life is Perfect Practice for Newcastle Solicitor

February 5, 2009

An inspirational business woman has set up Newcastle's newest solicitors practice.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 5, 2009 -- A personal crisis involving a divorce and the loss of the family home and business would be enough to tip the balance for most people, but for one inspirational North East business woman it heralded the start of a journey leading to the opening of Newcastle’s newest solicitors practice.

At the age of forty two, Sylvia Niccol experienced a dark period in her life which left her alone, homeless and jobless. Rather than dwell on her personal misfortune, Sylvia looked upon the situation as an opportunity to start again and rewrite her own future.

Her “blank canvas” approach started her on a fifteen year labour of love studying law. Attending college and then Newcastle University’s Law School, Sylvia found that she had a natural ability towards all things legal. After 3 years of full time studying, she gained her law degree which enabled her to carry out very basic work within the legal profession. A twelve year period of extensive work experience together with numerous lengthy courses including Advocacy and Accounting and a legal executive course eventually rewarded Sylvia with her solicitor’s qualification in 2006.

Struggling for funding, running up huge student loans and at times working every weekend to gain extra qualifications, Sylvia eventually gained positions within prominent law firms in Newcastle which helped her to build up her professional status and reputation.

“In recent years, there have been many changes in the way law firms operate,” said Sylvia.” It has been very difficult for graduates to get positions within law firms let alone for someone like me who started so late in life”.

The valuable time spent working for a number of major law firms gave Sylvia the drive and self confidence to make the important decision to go it alone. Now, the fifty six year old mother of 3 and grandmother of 6 has opened her own Newcastle practice in Churchill House on Mosley Street.

Sylvia is one of three partners working as part of WHN Law and she is confident that her expertise in civil law including personal injury claims, employer’s liability claims and probate litigation together with her practical experience of life will help the practice grow.

Sylvia’s difficult route into the legal profession has allowed her time to reflect on the important lessons of her life that she feels will help her new clients.
“I realise that some people can be frightened by legal jargon, so, I try to make the law simple to understand for my clients,” said Sylvia.” I hope that my determination to make it as a solicitor will inspire others to follow their heart to get what they want out of life too.”
