FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 9, 2009 -- San Diego California January 5 2009. IT managers are under pressure to get better reliability and efficienty from their computer networks yet their physical machines are aging and facing higher demands from network users.

Finding ways to improve performance, reduce bottlenecks, distribute computing tasks over more machines all while reducing IT expenses have been difficult to manage. A new era in network computer management has arrived with server virtualization. Server Vitualization is a method of running multiple independent virtual operating systems on a single physical computer. This saves power, requires less server machines and allows for much faster disaster recovery.

Hewlett Packard has been a leader in development of server virtualization software solutions for small to medium sized IT networks. The HP Virtual Server Environment helps to improve server utilization in real time. HP’s latest enhancements help plan, configure, and automate a network’s physical and virtual resources and manage physical and virtual resources from the same network console.

At the core of HP’s Virtualization system is the HP Virtualization Manager (not sure about this – ask Bjorn). This software service is part of their Server Virtualization Environment program which includes an easy-to-use interface to create a real time view of available virtual resources in seconds rather than a slow manual process as some IT managers are forced to use. Right away, the IT manager can see how virtual resources are utilized and how they relate to the physical network infrastructure and business applications in real time.

Brett Corbin, President of Networks2000 has this to say about virtualization: “Server virtualization solutions from VMware and HP are helping our customers use their network servers more efficiently, thereby maximizing the return on their investment in network technology. These solutions provide the flexibility for future growth/changes while dramatically streamlining their disaster recovery and restore procedures”

According to the latest reseach by IDC, server virtualization adoption is increasing at a very high rate, even to the point of diminishing sales of new servers and reducing hardware requirements by up to 1000% (let’s use a lower number – like 90%). In the second quarter of 2008, server virtualization licenses increased 53% year over year and were growing 72% each year according to one report. Two companies are dominating the server virtualization business: VMware and Microsoft. VMware the perennial leader in virtualization software has revenues of $1.3 billion per year from a variety of VMware products. Microsoft corporation’s entry into the server virtualization marketplace is Hyper V.
