Neurosurgeons Find Neck or Back Pain Patients Respond Better With Spinal Decompression
Modern and alternative medical professionals are beginning to realize that spinal decompression may be a better choice for those suffering with neck or lower back problems.

Modern and alternative medicine, to include the wide spectrum of neurosurgeons, orthopedists, acupuncturists and chiropractors, are beginning to realize that spinal decompression may be a better choice for those suffering with neck or lower back problems like facet arthropathy (an enlargement of the bony joints in the spine due to chronic lower back problems), bulged or herniated discs, neural foraminal stenosis (a narrowing of the holes the nerves exit in the spinal column), and even spine or disc related upper or lower extremity complaints like numbness and tingling, muscle spasms, or weakness. Common protocols for these ailments include the customary muscle relaxers like Flexoril or pain medications like Vicodin, Darvocet, Celebrex, Naproxen, Lortab, corticosteroid injections, nerve conduction studies, physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, or acupuncture. Surgery is often a last resort and so is spinal decompression, a much safer and affordable choice. "But with disc problems you must tackle the actual disc itself which is something that physical therapy can't really target", states Dr. John Thomas, DC, owner of a South Atlanta non-surgical, prescription-free spinal disc rehab facility, Allied Healthcare.
Though physical therapy is a common choice among practitioners when it comes to disc related back pain referrals, it is usually ordered to strengthen and rehabilitate the muscles surrounding the spine and the supportive core muscles. Studies done at Emory University have shown that spinal decompression done with the IDD Therapy protocol, developed by North American Medical, is very effective at targeting and healing the actual disc problem directly. Spinal decompression works by creating a suction-like effect around the disc that brings nutrients, water and oxygen back into the degenerated disc. The herniations and bulges are also drawn back into the disc by the vacuum effect. Studies show between 86- 92% success rate with the Accu-Spina IDD Therapy medical device used in the studies at Emory. "This is something that physical therapy, acupuncture, drugs or surgery can not achieve and though these modalities are useful, they should be administered after decompressing the disc not before", according to Dr. Thomas who employs spinal decompression with the Accu-Spina IDD Therapy medical device in his practice with astounding clinical results. Prideful, Dr. Thomas notes, "We see miracles in my practice weekly and my patient's testimonials tell it all".
Allied Healthcare, located south of downtown Atlanta, in Fayetteville, GA, offers Accu-Spina with IDD Therapy Protocols. The IDD Therapy spinal decompression protocol was recently featured on WebMD as an amazing option for serious lower back conditions that normally would require heavy duty drug based pain management, physical therapy or surgery.
