Job Prospects in Gibraltar for 2009
The Job Prospects in Gibraltar for 2009 remain uncertain but there seems to be room for optimism as Gibraltar hopes to play to it strengths and buck the global employment trends
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 13, 2009 --
So 2009 is well and truly under way and of course with it brings a historic change in the form of the new President of the United States, Barack Obama , who, amongst many other things, certainly appears to have his work cut out restoring confidence to the economy, which leads the way for so many others.
It is ever more apparent that despite all the “rescues plans” and government support that is being pledged we are facing what amounts to the most challenging year in respect of employment that many of us have, or will ever face. At Recruit Gibraltar we have adapted quickly to the needs of both client and candidate, naturally with a service such as ours it is vital to adapt to market demands. Many valued clients have suffered due to the downturn in the past year, and whilst recruitment of new staff has not been a priority, we continue to work together to ensure that they are best equipped to tackle the year ahead with the very best staff they can possibly attain.
It is common knowledge that many companies are only as good as the staff that they employ, and recessionary times highlight this more than ever. We are finding that the majority of our client requirements come about as a result of the necessity of improving the caliber of employee they employ. Companies are now eager to find employees who can display a consistent, stable work history. They want people who are willing to “go the extra mile” in order to surpass expectations, in short they want high quality employees.

Lottery participation has shown to be higher, and with a higher per person spend, so I believe Egaming will profit for the same reasons. Unemployment and a general lack of money to spend outside the house for entertainment, will lead people to get online and spend their money there instead. Existing players may also have more time at their disposal and thus may spend more time in the online poker rooms.
Finance in the form of banking is obviously quiet, inline with the global situation, although the other firms that compliment the finance sector could with stand the slow down quite well. The change in corporation tax to 10% is expected to bring in more companies and with that means the support services required should benefit. Also in harsher times people evaluate their position so taxes such as IHT become more of a focus and hence Gibraltar could benefit.
Gibraltar has not been immune to redundancies and restructuring, however, and they are plenty of people presently located outside Gibraltar looking to move to the area for work. If you speak to any of the hundreds of real estate sales people on the Spanish coast they will tell you Gibraltar is one beacon they are
