The Travel Report Announces a New Public TV Series called The Tradition of Hospitality

It is not only a matter of where to go, but how will one will be treated once they get to their destination? Many people today are using the internet to locate reviews on previous guest’s stays at various hotels, inns and bed and breakfasts across America. In all these cases, one theme continues to rise to the forefront – the hospitality issue. But not all establishments are using the internet to their full potential.

The internet is a core source of information for any traveler. It is there that people are finding out that many inns and B&Bs accommodate and even cater directly to families with activities one would not find at a standard hotel (like rock climbing, working on a ranch, or day care for small children). Hospitality information then takes a center role. The producer of the program said, “Our television crews fly all over the world. Being in a hospitable environment makes their work easier and their days go much more smoothly. They search the internet first to find the most suitable location and then we check reviews from others who have stayed there.”

The Travel Report is highlighting the need for “hospitality education” for the consumer at one level, and a “hospitality knowledgebase” to increase awareness in the industry in general. Innkeepers who are managing a 5 room bed and breakfast, and concierge who manage to serve a 600 room Resort Hotel must be sure that they keep in touch with the means to educate their community, city, state and nation with available information that will help the consumer choose them as a desirable location. According to IBBIA's Webmaster, Amelia Painter, "today’s innkeeper must incorporate technology into their business – the industry today is an Internet-driven market. The success or failure of your B&B depends on how effectively you use the Internet as a marketing tool." Most hotels and inns simply have an interactive website to make reservations, but do little to educate the consumer on the “experience”.

The Tradition of Hospitality, as part of the Travel Report, is being produced to explore the latest trends, news and information in the hospitality industry to bring education not only to the location, but also the experience into one high-end message. The series will be featuring a variety of new hotels, vacation spots, romantic getaways, bed and breakfasts, inns and resorts that make an impact on consumers and hotel/inn-keeping professionals alike to promote education on hospitality issues.
