Originally known as "Mason’s Draft Forecast" in its infancy, Blue Chip Scouting has continually refined and upgraded their work throughout the years. Dale first began while operating as the Sports Director at WCHW in Michigan, on his daily sports talk radio show. A short few years later the very first edition was published in the spring of 1990 with Harold Green of South Carolina and Anthony Thompson of Indiana gracing the front cover. Since that time Dale has also been a frequent guest on radio talk shows across the country.

The objective of Blue Chip Scouting is to provide NFL executives, scouts, agents and fans with accurate, fair, knowledgeable player and draft coverage. The work centers primarily around the players and their abilities, not just mock drafts. The focus is primarily on senior prospects and Blue Chip Scouting will not complete an evaluation on an underclassmen until they have announced their decision to enter the NFL draft, however, small profiles are done on underclassmen at times with the intention of providing the fan with a sneak peek at the future prospects.

Blue Chip Scouting’s player evaluations are very unique. The work is completed with their readers in mind as well as providing a professional scouting evaluation that NFL teams can utilize. The work is not a grouping of statistics compiled in a large text paragraph, nor is it too detailed and dry. Blue Chip Scouting has perfected the art of enjoyable, informative and professional evaluations. The profiles and evaluations are completed with the intention of being a very enjoyable read while incorporating a similar scouting report that each NFL team uses. This provides the readers with an in-depth professional NFL scouting evaluation while not bogging them down with too much trivial information. This formula has resulted in the best NFL draft source available to the public and also has NFL teams and agents calling to purchase copies. One NFL team called the week prior to the 2006 NFL Draft asking for additional copies of our Draft Preview Issue to be mailed overnight to them immediately!

Blue Chip Scouting does a very thorough and complete job when evaluating the players. An attempt is made to evaluate a player a minimum of three times during the course of his senior season. Preferably, early, mid and end of season mini-evaluations are completed. These mini-evaluations are then condensed into one final evaluation. In some cases, a player may be evaluated 4-5 times during the season depending upon the player. Blue Chip Scouting will also speak with universities and coaches around the country in an effort to get as much information on a prospect as possible. Regardless, Blue Chip Scouting will give as thorough, accurate and unbiased evaluation. This is just step one. Step two is compiling all of the information from the all-star games and practices, such as the Senior Bowl. Step three is the NFL combine in February and step four is a player’s pro day.
