GREEN BUSINESS DIRECTORY GROWING DESPITE ECONOMIC SLOWDOWN

The new online directory provides listings of all the “green” friendly products, services and businesses in each area of Massachusetts. Less than a year ago, the website was merely an idea floating around in the head of founder and president, Paula Keif. Today, the GGWD is a thriving community of consumers and businesses that want to clean up their act and the environment.

“In the past few months, we’ve hired a full-time programmer for the website, a new sales person and a freelance environmental writer,” says Keif. “We owe a lot of our success to the early support we received from businesses like Covanta Energy, Zip Car and Circle Furniture. They really loved what we were doing and signed on when the site was just starting.”

Consumers in Massachusetts are beginning to embrace the idea of living green and supporting businesses that share their philosophy. This fact is evident in the increased traffic to the GGWD. But it’s not just consumers that are finding a benefit from the online directory. Businesses are looking for better, cheaper and more effective ways to reach their target market.

“Originally, we thought of the directory as a tool for consumers only but since then it has become an amazing business to business network,” said VP of Sales and Marketing, Leanne Schiller. “The green business owners that are listed have found it an invaluable resource for them to get the word out about their products and services and to promote their upcoming events as well.”
