(Free-Press-Release.com) February 24, 2009 --
In 1964, Martin Alicandro Jr. opened Kingston Automotive Transmission on Summer Street in Kingston, MA. His landlord Benny McFarland operated a GMC franchise in the building next door and when Benny decided to retire in 1967, he offered to sell the franchise to Marty. In 1970 the dealership was incorporated as Marty’s Inc.
In 2000 the company would again shift hands but this time to Marty’s daughter, Christine who purchased a majority interest in the company to become the new Dealer Principal.
The dealership has seen many changes from moving it’s location to Independence Mall Way, undergoing a major renovation to the facility adding a state of the art show room and customer service drive through, and thriving during the acquisition of Pontiac, Buick, and Isuzu brands. While the company has endured several business transformations and economic drawbacks, the one thing that has remained the same since 1983 is the mission of Marty’s and the employee’s belief in it. The mission statement reads:
Marty’s is an automotive dealership engaged in the sale and service of trucks and cars. We strive at every opportunity to serve our customers and our community to the fullest of our abilities. “We believe that our people are our greatest assets.” Every individual effort is an integral part of our dealership. By working together as a team, we will continue to grow and prosper in our mutual endeavors, striving for professional growth and customer satisfaction.
Marty’s business culture is a living version of this mission statement. To serve it’s community, Marty’s has continuously been a major donor to the Plymouth Boys and Girls Club, The Jordan Hospital, The Children’s Cove and The Plymouth 4th of July Parade. We have also supported surrounding towns’ sports teams, actively participated in fundraisers, and sponsored many local shelters. Recently Christine was asked to give a speech at the groundbreaking site where Habitat for Humanity will be building a house for a family in Kingston. “Our people truly are our greatest assets,” and the appreciation for them is shown through company lunch cookouts, our annual fishing trip, annual beach party on the cape, and true consideration of their suggestions and contributions with every company venture and event.
Marty’s takes great pride in the complete satisfaction of our customers and employees, and work constantly to find new ways to innovate ourselves and become even better. We understand the importance of building relationships and sincerely view that as the most important aspect of our sales and service departments.
