February 26, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 26, 2009 -- Milwaukee, WI - Thursday, February 26, 2009- Response Systems, providers of customized Physician led Disaster Planning and Training, today announced that they have been chosen to present at the Third National Emergency Management Summit in Washington, DC.

The National Emergency Management Summit event, to be held March 4-6, 2009 at the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel, is the leading forum on planning, response and recovery for Healthcare Organizations in times of disaster, epidemics and terrorism. The National Emergency Management Summit was born out of the heightened awareness of natural and environmental disasters, epidemics, and acts of terrorism and how to better prepare public, private and government healthcare systems in times of crisis.

Response Systems will be leading an education track on March 5th, to discuss how customized disaster plans established with LSU Health Care System made a significant impact in the safety and efficiency of the response. Response Systems won a five year contract in 2007 to provide all facets of planning and operations in any event necessitating a full or partial evacuation.

“In the first two years of our contract with LSU HCSD, Response Systems responded to four events. One hurricane threat, two hurricanes and a chemical spill,” states Todd Grainger, President of Response Systems. “Gustav was a Category 2 hurricane when it hit shore yet still devastated a number of LSU hospitals. It was catastrophic,” explains Grainger.

The successful mission resulted in over 300 patients being evacuated and repatriated in swift fashion. LSU Healthcare Services Division issued a public statement within days of the wake of Hurricane Gustav, praising Response Systems’ performance. Michael K. Butler, MD and CEO of LSU Healthcare Services Division noted, “the patients’ movement during the evacuation process went extremely smoothly,” and went on to thank Response Systems for the superb help during the Hurricane Gustav Crisis.

Titled “Activating and Executing a System Wide Evacuation-Gustav 2008, the Largest Healthcare Evacuation in Louisiana History” the presentation will include the successful preparedness schemes and critical planning and activation actions that ensured the operation was successful. Presenters include Todd Grainger, President of Response Systems, Michael K. Butler, MD, MHA, CPE, FACPE and Chief Executive Officer of LSU HCSD, James Aiken, MD and Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Medical Director of Emergency Management, University Hospital New Orleans and Wendy Rasmussen, RN and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, LSU HCSD.
