(Free-Press-Release.com) March 9, 2009 -- three NRI hailing from a remote village called onakkoor which is about 40 kms east of ernakulam in kerala has registered a charitable institution called THANAL to help those who have no other place to go. they have earmarked 10% of their montly earnings for this purpose.

THANAL has already helped five students to continue their nursing course. these students were selected from 20 applicants who were ranked based on the financial capability of their parents and keenness of the students to pursue studies and serve the society. a team of professionals including a retired army officer , a serving bank manager visit the applicants and physically verify their condition before taking a decision .

THANAL has also given medicine and met the hospital expenses of 10 terminally ill patients so far.

THANAL plans to expand its activities to palliative care and deaddiction counselling.

THANAL is managed by father shaji with the help of an voluntary team. this committee meets once a month and takes decision on the applications based on the visit report of the professional team.

membership in THANAL is now open. membership fee is Rs one thousand. membership however is subjet to approval by the management committee. this safeguard is incoroprated in the bye laws of the society to prevent persons with profit motive and selfish goals coming in. THANAL also accepts sposorship of students for higher studies. sponsors are similarly screened to weed out selfish motives.

THANAL has a totally open work style and is planning to host a website. full information on inflow of funds and its end use will be posted in the website. all the members of THANAL will be able to view and edit the data on login. public will be able to view the details and post comments.
