No Animals, Now No Clowns Circuses

March 9, 2009

Local United Kingdom circuses are left bereft of laughter, through bungling bureaucracy. Desperately needed professional clowns are left stranded in Europe, jobless.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 9, 2009 -- Circuses have long been interfered with, though the lack of trained animals, as the result of the cruelty-to-animals groups. Now bureaucracy strikes another blow at circuses, at a time when laughter is needed more than ever, as the world reels from a financial disaster that is the worst in known history. Urgently needed professional clowns are left stranded in Europe, without jobs, through bureaucracy's inefficient bungling.

A new points-based system was set up in November, by the immigration authorities of the United Kingdom, in an attempt to come down hard on illegal immigrants. On their website the move is described as being a 'significantly more straightforward and transparent structure'.

Foreign professional Clowns acrobats and trapeze artists, have always been able to secure the necessary points for gaining entry into the United Kingdom, based on the fact of their unique skills and talents. Ringmasters are now complaining that there are so many problems with the new system, such as faulty computer software and embassy staff who are left unable to cope, because they have not been properly trained in the new system. A vast amount of desperately needed talent, for the new season in British circuses, are not getting through to the big tops.

"It's a mess! I've got a clown stuck in Mexico, comedy acrobats stranded in the Ukraine and horse riders who were refused their visas in Ulan Batur, Mongolia", says Martin Lacey, outspoken ringmaster and owner of the Great British Circus. He has been forced to bring in last-minute substitutes. "We've got a trapeze artist pretending to be a stooge, just to get everybody out of trouble and keep the show on the road.

Circuses have proven, time and again, to be a way of helping people get through the tough times. Clowns in particular, with their white faces, outrageous makeup and oversized shoes, have helped people to laugh at themselves, no matter how bad things are.

The loss of clowns comes in the middle of world economical disaster, when families need to make every cent count, to make sure they are getting value for their money. Humour is a serious business, assisting people to relate to the reality of life. Clownless circuses are no laughing matter, as people are paying for something they are not getting, through the work of bungling bureaucrats.
