In just over 10 short years, the marketing landscape has altered beyond recognition. If one might have suggested 10 years ago that the major Yellow Pages businesses would be struggling with rapidly declining revenues, share prices dropping off the graph, and that national newspapers, for so long gooses laying the golden eggs of advertising revenues, would be laying off hundreds of advertising staff, you may well have been carted off in a straight jacket. However, these are now plain facts. Because the Internet is now so ubiquitous, its influence all encompassing but yet personal, its simply astounding usurping of all the traditional advertising and marketing mediums, for decades dominant, is still being ignored by a large number of small and medium sized businsses; at their very peril. Some serious waking up and coffee smelling is in order.
