May 12th Dinner Honoring QVC; Lilly Pulitzer; Wolverine Worldwide, Inc.; Gilbert Harrison, CEO Financo; Norma Kamali; & Barbie To Benefit the Educational Foundation of FIT

New York, NY March 2009- The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) is celebrating the 31st Annual American Image Awards (AIA) dinner scheduled for Tuesday evening, May 12, 2009. This year’s honorees are: CEO & President, Blake Krueger, to receive the Excellence in Lifestyle Branding award, to be presented to Wolverine World Wide, Inc; CEO and President, Mike George to receive the Retailer of the Year award to be presented to on behalf of QVC; Gilbert Harrison, Founder and Chairman of Financo, Inc., will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement award; Norma Kamali will accept the Designer of the Year award; Lilly Pulitzer will be presented with the Spirit of a Woman award, and, this year’s Fashion Maverick Award will be presented to Barbie in honor of her 50th year! The celebrity emcee and presenters will be announced shortly. The Educational Foundation for the Fashion Industries, the charitable body at FIT, is this year’s charity partner and will receive 40% of the net proceeds.
Kevin Burke, President and CEO of the AAF says; “This year’s honorees represent the very top leadership of the industry, even Barbie! We are very proud to honor their excellent accomplishments and to also highlight and benefit the good works of the Educational Foundation for the Fashion Industries.”
