(Free-Press-Release.com) March 23, 2009 -- Ngmoco, the publisher of such iPhone and iPod Touch games as MazeFinger, Topple, Topple 2, Dr. Awesome, Dropship, and Word Fu, showed it also understands the game of venture funding by closing a $10 million round of investments.

The game developer, which claims to have had its games installed on iPhones and iTouch devices over 7 million times, said on Monday it raised the new round of funding in order to expand the development of what it called "premium games" and speed up the development of its publishing and social gaming platform for iPhone and iPod Touch-connected gaming.

The new round of funding was led by Norwest Venture Partners, and included previous investors such as Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers as well as Maples Investing.

The new round of funding to expand game and social networking development comes at a time when Apple is preparing to bring its new iPhone OS 3.0 to market.

The new iPhone OS 3.0 includes such features as copy, cut, and paste; multimedia; Bluetooth wireless and peer-to-peer connectivity; voice memo; and search.

In the meantime, developers such as Ngmoco now have access to over 1,000 new APIs in Apple's new SDK (software development kit).

According to Apple, the iPhone is currently available in 80 countries. The company said it sold 13.7 million iPhones in 2008 alone. In total, Apple said it has sold more than 30 million iPhones and iPod Touch devices.
