"South Florida Band Gives Voice To Public Outrage"
When most people today hear the name Bernie Madoff, they usually recoil, gnash their teeth and have a few "choice words" to say about him.
For one South Florida band, they give a musical voice to that outrage. Say hello to GSR. Made up of local veterans of the music scene, Jim Ryan and Jon Singer, GSR has been providing commentary on everything from eco-causes, to war, to politics.
GSR's latest single "Madoff", has gotten the attention of a number of South Florida industry pros including Eric Kline of Inside The Music Business. "Madoff" could be called "Made-Off" It is a poignant song by GSR that uniquely depicts the realities and ironies of the man, the father, the criminal."
The scandal is all over the airwaves and hard to escape. The common refrain I have heard is: "How could this happen?" recalls Ryan. This was the genesis for this song. We try to answer that question musically as it appears to run deeper than Madoff himself.
GSR is currently in the studio putting its finishing touches on it's forthcoming CD. In the meantime, you can see them appearing at Earthfest on April 19th.
