FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) March 30, 2009 --
LAND O’LAKES, FL (MONDAY, MARCH 30, 2009): Optimal IdM, LLC, a premier Microsoft ISV and Identity & Access (IDA) partner, today announced a solution for the higher education market to achieve FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) compliance. Optimal IdM has enhanced its Virtual Identity Server for Automated Compliance Management™ (VIS for ACM™) in order to provide organizations with the ability to meet and exceed the new FERPA regulations established in January 2009. Since its initial launch, Optimal IdM’s VIS for ACM has had out-of-the-box capabilities that allowed organizations to manage and maintain group membership within Active Directory (AD) and ADAM based on user attributes in an automated fashion. Now, Optimal IdM has enhanced the capabilities of VIS for ACM to include the ability of enforcing group security on AD groups and distribution lists. There are four quick steps to FERPA compliance using VIS for ACM. The first is to determine which existing Active Directory groups/distribution lists that the Virtual Identity Server for Automated Compliance should maintain. Next, an administrator defines the group membership criteria and determines who can and cannot view the AD group membership, using a point and click interface. Once membership criteria and permissions are established, VIS for ACM automatically manages the group membership and group permissions based on the interval set by the administrator. In turn, VIS for ACM provides FERPA compliance for AD groups and distribution lists with complete built- in auditing & reporting in minutes. Michael Brengs, Managing Partner of Optimal IdM, adds, “With the new FERPA regulations in effect as of January 2009, our goal was to provide those within the higher education market with an easy-to-use, automated solution to obtain and maintain FERPA compliance. With the enhancements to our powerful Virtual Identity Server for Automated Compliance, we have achieved this goal”. Built-on the flagship platform of Optimal IdM‘s Virtual Identity Server, the newly enhanced Virtual Identity Server for Automated Compliance Management (VIS for ACM) is the latest of the many Microsoft-centric point solutions developed by Optimal IdM. Others include: VIS for ILM/ILM2, VIS for SharePoint and VIS for Enterprise Group Management.
