Integrity Career Transitions, The Job Hunting Experts announce a first-of-its-kind statewide event designed to teach Delaware job seekers innovative, new strategies for securing meaningful employment.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 8, 2009 --
Mark your calendars for the Delaware Job Hunters Education and Networking Event on Wed., May 6, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Chase Center on the Riverfront. This special event will focus on the keys to success in a drastically changed job market. The program is free and open to the public. To register, you may either call 302-504-9922 or visit online at http://www.integritycareertransitions.com/events/eventDetails.aspx?eventid=268.
Delaware Lt. Gov. Matt Denn and Mayor Jim Baker will be there to discuss the rapid rise in the state unemployment rate and to talk about what job hunters can do now to educate themselves on the new rules of the job market. Delaware’s unemployment rates nearly doubled during the last year – from 4% in Feb. 2008 to 7.4% in February of this year – according to statistics compiled by the U.S. Department of Labor.
“This is the first event of its kind in the state. We are doing this in direct response to the need we see in the community … Delaware has its highest unemployment in 25 years,” says Event Manager and Director for Integrity Career Transitions Joyce Dungee Proctor. Along with ICT, other sponsors for the event include AFLAC and Madison Resource Funding.
Responding to the steady rise in the number of people who are unemployed, the public and private sectors will convene to educate and enlighten job hunters with powerful knowledge and insight regarding the changing face of the state’s job market. The key purpose of this meeting is to shed light on creative, new strategies for people to implement in today’s market, so that job seekers can gain a competitive edge and greatly improve their job search skills.
“Job hunting has changed,” says Proctor, “and people have not kept up with the changes. It’s time we give people the knowledge and education that becomes their power to propel themselves forward and stand out in an increasingly competitive marketplace.”
This is not a job fair, per se, however, several area employers will be in attendance to share information about hiring processes, qualifications for promising candidates, and possible job openings. Local employers scheduled to attend include: WL Gore, WSFS Bank, Wilmington Trust Bank, AAA, AFLAC, and the list is growing.
Keynote speakers will address the issues of Supercharging your Interviewing Skills and Writing a Winning Resume. Career Coaching Sessions will be available free of charge and local experts will answer questions about dressing for success, staying motivated during your job search, job search strategies for the currently employed, tools for recent college graduates, and strategies for an internet job search.
