The government has issued Fiat - Chrysler and General Motors with a stimulus package in order to supply each own parts suppliers with funds for retooling.

Recently Fiat has stressed its plan to take an initial 20% stake in Chrysler LLC will not involve any cash payment, but has not disclosed the cost of retooling plants to produce its own-brand cars, a key part of securing U.S. regulatory approval by an April 30 deadline. Fiat will have to invest up to $500 million to convert any Chrysler plant in the U.S. to produce its own cars, according to an independent analysis.
