Point Break Café Moves to New Shelter Island Location

(Free-Press-Release.com) April 11, 2009 -- Point Break Cafe, a Shelter Island favorite since 2004, has announced that it is moving one block southeast of its current location to 2743 Shelter Island Drive on April 28th. Point Break will now be residing in the former Shelter Island Boll Weevil building, which has been vacant since December. This move means the popular breakfast and lunch eatery will increase its capacity an additional 40 people from its current site.

Point Break’s relocation is a welcomed change to the Shelter Island community since the vacant Boll Weevil building has been a sad reminder of the heartbreaking bankruptcy of the former landmark restaurant. The building will once again be occupied by a thriving local restaurant which has experienced record growth amidst the current economic environment.

“We feel lucky that we have been able to grow and expand in a time when many local businesses are struggling,” says owner Kevin Lewis. “This move will allow us to accommodate more customers while still serving the same quality food at the same affordable prices.”

The café will remain open at its current location until the move. Patrons will be able to visit the new location beginning April 28th.
