Pastor Larry Wilson's Sermon on God's Wisdom For Dealing With Toxic People In Your Life

Nehemiah faced three men in his life who were toxic; they were negative and they wanted to spew their attitudes onto Nehemiah. How do you remain a good Christian and still avoid a head on crash with these kinds of people? Pastor Larry has discovered some clues from God's word that shows us what to do. (Reference Nehemiah chapters 4 & 6)

1. Don't Take It Personally:

When we take personal insults personally we allow Satan and "whomever" to catch us with their "hooks". When someone insults you it is always more about them than it is about you. Ignore them. It's their "black magic" so to speak.

2. If You Can Avoid This Person - Do So!
Nehemiah refused to engage his detractors in conversation; he stayed focused on God's mission for his life. Billy Graham has often been quoted as saying, "I do not answer my critics". You do not have to have conversations with people just because they want to argue with you. Avoid them if possible or simply ignore them again.

3. Don't Try To Change Toxic People:

You can't change them. Do not try. If you kick a skunk you will end up stinking. Toxic people like the way they are and they don't want to change. They are hurting and will hurt you if you let them. When the student is ready the teacher will appear. They will not change until they are ready to change.

This is practical advice form Nehemiah's life.
