(Free-Press-Release.com) April 16, 2009 --
On Saturday, May 2, 2009, writers are invited to come find fresh inspiration from nationally syndicated radio host and bestselling author Hugh Hewitt, bestselling novelist James Scott Bell, Saddleback pastor Buddy Owens, and more at the Orange County Christian Writers Fellowship’s 25th annual Spring Writer's conference, held at Mariner’s Church in Irvine.
The Orange County Christian Writers Fellowship has been helping non-fiction and fiction authors improve their craft, make contact with agents and editors, and successfully market their work for the past 25 years. Getting professional feedback on the quality of their work is one of the most important ways writers have of successfully publishing their work. With the increasing difficulty of getting an editors attention for a manuscript, meeting face to face with those who know the ropes, can cut years off the often challenging process of submitting work and experiencing rejections. This conference was designed with the busy writer in mind who has been struggling to succeed. The faculty are accessible. Lunch will be served and each attendee can sit at a table with a select faculty member, where the conversation is always helpful and fascinating. With three keynote speakers, the informational will be transformational.
The afternoon keynote speaker, Hugh Hewitt, has received three Emmys for his work as co-host of Life & Times, a nightly news/public affairs program on KCET from 1992 until 2007. He conceived and hosted the PBS series, Searching for God in America. An author of eight books, including two New York Times best-sellers, Hugh’s most recent books are, Blog: Understanding the Information Reformation That is Changing YourWorld, and A Mormon in the White House? Hugh writes daily for his blog, Hugh Hewitt.com, which is among the most visited political blogs in the U.S. He is also Executive Editor of Townhall.com. You can read more of his bio at www.occwf.org/swd2009/speakers.htm
The morning keynote will be done by the loquacious and entertaining, James Scott Bell. A bestselling author in the inspirational market, Jim won the first Christy Award for suspense and has been a finalist for the award two other times. He met his wife when he moved to New York to write for the theater. “No matter what I write, my theme always seems to be the search for justice in a dark world…” Bell recently returned to his screenwriting roots, hired to write an adaptation of a bestselling novel. He has begun work on a new script, a thriller set in Los Angeles. For information on registering go to www.occwf.org
One of the more popular workshops will be run by Janet Thompson, founder Woman to Woman Mentoring. Her bestselling books include Praying for Your Prodigal Daughter; Hope, Help, & Encouragement for Hurting Parents; Dear God, They Say It’s Cancer A Companion Guide for Women on the Breast Cancer Journey; Woman to Woman Mentoring: How to Start, Grow, and Maintain a Mentoring Ministry.
