Post-Partum Depression Author to speak at Almaden Valley Athletic Club
Co-author of the award winning book, "Beyond the Blues", Pec Indman to speak Wednesday, April 22 at 7 pm

San Jose, CA, April 15, 2009. In its ongoing mission to provide health and wellness resources to the San Jose community, Almaden Valley Athletic Club (AVAC) is presenting a free lecture given by Pec Indman, co-author of Beyond the Blues. The book contains up-to-date information to help women, their families and caregivers, as well as professionals, understand and work with this debilitating illness that affects about 700,000 women in the United States each year.

Award Winning Work
Beyond the Blues has recently receive several awards, including the iParenting Media Award, the National Parenting Publication gold Award for Parenting Resources, and the National Health Information Award. Indman wrote the book with Shoshana S. Bennett, Ph.D., a survivor of two post-partum depressions, and is the founder of Postpartum Assistance for Mothers in 1987, and is a former president of Postpartum Support International. Dr. Indman holds a doctorate in counseling and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has a private practice in psychotherapy in the San Francisco Bay Area, specializing in prenatal and postpartum mood disorders and issues related to reproductive health. Dr. Indman is the Northern California and training coordinator for Postpartum Support International, and the former secretary of California's state organization Postpartum Health Alliance. She lectures frequently and is also active in several international perinatal organizations. Pec is the mom of Megan and Emily.
