United Educational Corporation Scores Grant from the Baltimore Ravens ACT Foundation
Baltimore Ravens ACT Foundation Awards $3,500 Grant to Fund Physical Fitness Program.

BALTIMORE – July 17, 2008 – United Educational Corporation definitely scored a touchdown in the battle against childhood obesity today when it was awarded the Plan-In-Motion grant from the Baltimore Ravens All Community Team Foundation.
“This is an important partnership between the Baltimore Ravens All Community Team Foundation and UEC,” said Matthew Day, Director with the UEC. “It means more Baltimore City youth will be able to participate in our program and learn how to keep physically fit and be more healthy.”

http://www.campunited.org United Educational Corporation operates after-school and summer camp. Activities include fitness focused health & nutrition education, a walking club and recreational sports along with other activities. UEC serves nearly 350 children annually.
“UEC is perfectly in-line with the goals of the foundation as we work together to focus on physical fitness for youth in the Baltimore region,” said Melanie LeGrande, Executive Director and Community Relations Manager of the Baltimore Ravens ACT Foundation. “Our grant program, in its second year, has been designed to encourage healthy youth activities and promote the importance of nutrition and exercise for children.”
More than 20 Baltimore-area organizations were recipients of nearly $100,000 in grants. Through the Ravens’ Plan in Motion project, each qualifying organization received up to $5,000 for initiating and/or continuing programs or projects that promote physical fitness and nutritional education.
“The grant from the Baltimore Ravens will help us keep more underprivileged children in Baltimore eating healthy and keeping fit,” Day added.
