Drivers License Office
A proposal to solve over crowding and safety at Drivers License Office.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 21, 2009 --
This letter is written as a proposal to relieve some of the burden on the Department of Public Safety for driving tests performed at various DPS offices. Driving tests for new licenses have always been done by an officer with the DPS.
Our proposal is for the driving test for licenses to be removed from the DPS and responsibility placed on the driving school . DPS should process all paperwork and issue licenses but will be relieved of the driving tests. No more long lines of applicants waiting for hours in a crowded DPS office for a driving test.
This makes more sense because driving schools have properly maintained cars that are properly insured
and are equipped with instructor brakes. This makes for a much safer driving test. Driving schools could test a student and charge a nominal fee to cover the cost of the test.
Driving schools are required to be licensed through the Texas Education Agency and all instructors are state certified. A pilot program can be contracted with a driving school for a trial period to see if this is feasible.
