Earth Day Bonus

(Free-Press-Release.com) April 23, 2009 -- Although there are endless activities going on to celebrate Earth Day, the management at Sensible Life Products (creators of Benefect® botanical disinfectants and cleaners) demonstrate corporate responsibility by giving their employees an unorthodox perk. By offsetting the carbon footprint of their employees’ houses & cars, Sensible Life Products gives a personal bonus to employees that also helps the environment.

The total carbon offset was 25 tons, which combines the homes & cars of every employee for one year. Sensible Life used the Carbon Reduction Fund to calculate each individual’s carbon footprint and then donated the offset amount towards a local environmental program.

Everything we do from heating & cooling our homes to driving our cars produces carbon dioxide and/or greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. There are many non-profit organizations whose sole purpose is to provide a means to compensate for these emissions. This is done by funding projects that either reduce the amount of Greenhouse gases emitted elsewhere (such as energy efficiency, or renewable energy projects), or by those that effectively remove GHGs from the atmosphere, as in the case of forestry projects.
