Crazy Kiwi takes up Marathon challenge
Crazy Kiwi takes up Marathon challenge
Ryan Kilfoil is facing the challenge of a lifetime as he gears up to run the Rotorua Marathon in New Zealand and raise ₤10,000 for Stop the Traffik in only 10 days.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) April 24, 2009 --
Ryan, 26, is usually wearing a suit and tie, selling telecommunication solutions in his home town of Tauranga, New Zealand, but on May 2nd he will be donning his shorts and running 42 kilometres to raise money for Stop the Traffik – an international organisation dedicated to bringing an end to people trafficking. Last year, over 1.2 Million men, women and children were trafficked and “sold” into slavery. “This is a statistic that the world just can’t ignore any more” says Ryan.
Before training, Ryan had never run further than 3km, so this is a huge challenge. The hard work will all be worthwhile for Ryan when he succeeds in raising ₤10,000 for Stop the Traffik. Ryan couldn’t decide which charity to raise funds for, so decided to leave it up to his readers on his blog, the Kiwi Millionaire (http://thekiwimillionaire.com). After more than 50,000 votes, Stop the Traffik won with over 92% of all the votes.
Ryan is going to extraordinary lengths to ensure that Stop the Traffik receives these donations so that they can continue their amazing work.
"I’ve setup a group on facebook (, where people have to donate ₤2 to become a member of this exclusive club. I’ve also recorded a youtube video which is streaming all around the world. The local community has really been supportive, but I’m appealing to the global market, as this is a huge global crime that we all need to be aware of and eradicate” says Ryan.
His aim is to get 5000 people to sponsor just ₤2 each, helping raise over ₤10,000 for this great cause. “We really are appealing to the world for help, all we are asking for is ₤2, less than a cup of coffee!”
You can sponsor Ryan by visiting his online fundraising page on http://www.justgiving.com/ryankilfoil. You can pay instantly by credit card, and the money will go directly to Stop the Traffik.
